Today marks the beginning of the drive to the College Football National Championship game. We have the 2 Semi-Final playoff games this evening. Betcoin.ag is the best place to get your wagers in on these 2 colossal matchups. Lets take a look at each one briefly.

In the first game, the #2 seeded Clemson Tigers take on the #3 seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish at 4pm EST in the Cotton Bowl. Neither team has yet to lose this year, with the Clemson Tigers going 13-0 and winning the ACC Championship. Notre Dame is 12-0 on the year, as an Independent.

Clemson has been to the Semifinals the last 4 years. This is the first time that Notre Dame has made the college football playoffs since they started in 2014. However, in 2012, they did face the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Championship game.... and were blown out of the building. Does that happen this year?

Looking at this matchup, all the numbers seem to point at Clemson. Notre Dame has looked dominate for parts of this season, but they did have a few WTF moments this year...games that they should have won easily, ended up very close. Only beating Ball St. by 8? Pitt by 5? Eek. Also, comparing numbers between Clemson and Notre Dame, Clemson has them outmatched almost everywhere. Cleamson leads in Points per Game (45.4 to 33.8), Points Per Game Allowed (13.7 to 17.2), Yards Per Game (529.8 to 456.1), and Yards Allowed per Game (276.7 to 331.5). On paper, it seems that Notre Dame is completely overpowered, and the current point spread of Clemson -10.5 confirms that.

HOWEVER..... even though the Fighting Irish haven't been flashy, they have been better than average. In fact, they have the 4th best adjusted defense in the entire nation. While Dabo and Clemson have a high octane offense, occasionally it can get stale. Therefore.... the pick here, in my opinion, is:

Notre Dame +10.5

The 2nd Semifinal game today puts the #1 seeded and undefeted Alabama Crimson Tide, against the #4 seeded Oklahoma Sooners. The Sooners are the best offensive team in the country. On the other hand, defensive liabilities have landed them in shootout after shootout this year. With Nick Saban on the other sideline, and their QB, Tua Tagovailoa running the 'Bama offense, points will not be hard to come by for either team. Alabama is quietly the 2nd ranked offense in adjusted numbers. This is shown in the current Over/Under totals line, which as of right now is am astonishing 80.5. This is one of the largest totals in any championship game to date.

Alabama is a team that is getting quite used to lifting the trophy at the end of each year. Will Oklahoma be able to keep up?

I say yes. Both quarterbacks look to be healthy, and this should be a shootout for the ages. The number is high, but even so, these 2 teams could combine to hit 100. The pick for this game:

Alabama/Oklahoma Over 80.5
