Most athletes may never win a championship, and even so, some may never even see a championship final. It takes a lot of dedication and talent to form oneself into a competitive nature so fierce, it not only brings the best out of you, but the best out of those around you as well. This coming Saturday, the Champions League final will fall upon us once again, and we'll see a true champion be crowned once again after such a spectacular football season. This year's match-up consists of two teams that have fallen short in the final game, both reaching the final in the last five years, but have managed to find their way back for another chance at glory. One of these teams will be trying to lift the trophy for the first time in club history, while the other looks to add to their trophy case by claiming a fourth title. Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will be taking on Inter Milan in a clash between the two best French and Italian clubs this year. Both play such different styles on the pitch, but are so similar in the way they punish and breakdown teams for a full ninety minutes. This should be a very interesting match-up and one you certainly won't want to miss, regardless if you're a fan or not. Let's take a look, and pick apart what this year's Champions League Final should look like.
Paris Saint-Germain is certainly no slouch, and a team we've all heard of a lot more over the last decade. With the loss of their all-star striker Kylian Mbappé, they've managed to avoid any setbacks while forming a well-rounded and talented squad around their beloved striker, Ousmane Dembele. Ranked as the 6th highest goalscorer in the Champions League this year, Dembele has managed to net a total of 8 goals in four games, along with 4 assists as well. Dembele is the engine and heart to the team's front attack, and will be one of the main reasons they could see victory this coming weekend. Followed by an electric defense which consists of players such as Achraf Hakimi, Presnel Kimpembe, and Nuno Mendes, their defense scores at a very high rate as well, making this team very aggressive not only on the back, but on the front end as well. Though these teams haven't played to often, in the last two meetings dating back to 2019, the French squad has fallen both times, making this a very heated rivalry, and a chance to finally claim vengeance.
Inter Milan have found their way back to the Champions League Final after a heartbreaking loss two years ago against Manchester City. Having shown great determination and resilience, they've managed to return in hopes of finally closing out what they've sought to do for many years. As they come into this match-up, Inter are one of the highest-scoring teams in this tournament, and it comes as no surprise, especially after their last match-up against Barcelona, where they managed to net 7 goals in two games. Being led by their all-star striker Lautaro Martinez, he sits 5th overall in the tournament with 9 goals. Inter, along with their rivals, have a very explosive offense, but where Inter lacks at times is the back of the pitch. Sure, Inter can manage to keep up with anyone offensively, but their lack of structure can sometimes hurt them, as they've allowed 9 goals against themselves in their last two playoff matches. If Inter finally want to lift the trophy, and overcome such a heartbreaking loss two years ago, they'll need to be "pitch perfect" or this could slip away from them.
Both these teams have clearly played the most consistent football, but, sadly only one can win. This year, all angles point to Paris Saint-Germain finally claiming victory, and adding a Champions League trophy to their club's history. This should be a very explosive game once things start to open up, and quite honestly could come down to the wire, but it's hard to see PSG slipping away from finally getting a Champions League Final under their belt, and this is certainly their game to lose.
